Windows 10 is here!
For existing Windows 7 and 8.1 users, Microsoft is giving your a free & permanent upgrade to their newest Operating System (OS). Deadline to upgrade for free is July 29th, 2016.
So far our upgrade experience has been an easy one. The download can take one to several hours depending on your internet service. Once downloaded, install time will vary based on the speed of your computers hardware. Our fastest recorded time so far is 25 minutes for installation, but expect up to a couple hours for those with older PCs. Several reboots will occur, so don’t be alarmed by this.
Have important data on your computer? Not a problem. The upgrade process will keep all your existing data and compatible* programs & apps. Although we’ve not run into any kind of data loss yet, it’s recommended running a backup before the upgrade process as accidents can occur with any major software change.
The upgrade will come via Windows Updates, and for now will only start if you initiate the upgrade process. If you don’t see the Windows 10 Upgrade ready for download, run all other Windows Updates in order to see the upgrade be ready for your PC.
As a final note, it appears that Windows will allow you to roll back to your previous Windows 7 or 8.1 version within a 1 month period after the Windows 10 upgrade process.
